[Lovers India] Yahoo experiencing service issues due to damaged undersea cables

Please avoid sharing emails on Yahoo groups for few days, as Yahoo is experiencing service issues due to damaged undersea cables. More the unnecessary emails, more the burden for the remaining servers. I have kept my groups subscriptions to no mails for the same reason, please while sending a reply mark 'cc' to me in the email. Read the article below for the story :)

Yahoo users might experience some issues while trying to access their email or other Yahoo services such as Flickr. According to the company's help page, the cutting of undersea cables is affecting the efficiency of their services.

The notice on the Yahoo page reads like this: "Damaged undersea cable may affect some Yahoo services – Yahoo services have been impacted by the cutting of an undersea cable operated by a third party. We have taken steps to mitigate the impact including re-routing traffic. However, it's possible that you may experience latency or login looping across our services. We apologize for the inconvenience." You can view Yahoo's help page here.

Previously in April last year, three divers were caught in Egypt trying to cut undersea cables that were crucial to supplying Internet to India and other countries. Bharti Airtel, Tata Telecommunications officials had confirmed that the cable cut had affected the speed of Internet in India.

At that the time the line affected was the SMW4 or the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 cable which is approximately 18,800 kilometres long, and provides the primary Internet backbone between South East Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Europe.

Yahoo has not specified which line has been affected now, but the issue should be resolved soon enough.
